Other Completed Projects

Continued list of completed projects follows:

  • Kahuku High School Master Plan ~ Island of Oahu
Contracted by the Planning Branch of the Department of Accounting and General Services, PlanPacific is preparing a master plan for the Kahuku High School and Intermediate School. The existing facilities are being evaluated against and compared to the requirements of the State Department of Education Specifications for High Schools to identify deficiencies and recommend improvements. Since the existing 20 acre site has limited open area to accommodate additional facilities, acquiring adjacent property is a necessary option. Drainage, sewer, water, power, fire flow and data communication systems are being studied to incorporate the proposed facilities into the existing ones.

  • Endangered Species Management Plans for Makua and Kawailoa Military Reservations ~ Island of Oahu
Working with The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, PlanPacific prepared Endangered Species Management Plans (ESMPs) for two Army installations. The ESMPs will guide the Army in managing activities to protect and where possible, enhance important biological resources on each installation. In addition to background information describing the important plants, animals ecosystems and threats to these resources, the reports include five-year action plans specifying management objectives and tasks, timetables, and required resources. As the first ESMPs for a military installation, these plans will be used as a model for other installations nationwide.

  • Kapiolani Medical Center ~ Island of Oahu

  • Downtown Park Plan ~ Island of Oahu
The City and County of Honolulus Department of Parks and Recreation contracted PlanPacific to prepare a plan for increasing the availability of active recreational facilities for the downtown area of Honolulu. This section of the city has a growing resident population, particularly with the high-density, mixed-use zoning and the redevelopment of the adjacent Kakaako district. There are few existing parks, but high costs make major land acquisition unfeasible. The challenge is to make maximum use of the present park land inventory through strategic expansions, efficient site planning and cooperative agreements with neighboring institutions, such as schools and non-profit recreational clubs.
