The Hawai'i Community Development Authority selected PlanPacific to revise the plan for the Islands most significant urban redevelopment district, located in central Honolulu. The original Kakaako plan, adopted in 1982, embodied urban redevelopment concepts that were outmoded, impractical to implement, and were not achieving the desired pattern of urban development. PlanPacifics charge is to devise a new regulatory framework for the district that will stimulate and facilitate urban development according to smart growth principles.
